Tiebreaker Procedures
If there is a tie for a playoff qualifying position the following tiebreaker process will be implemented:
First Half Tie:
If two or more teams finish the First Half tied for a playoff-qualifying position, the following tiebreaker process will take place:
- The head-to-head (or head-to-head-to-head) First Half record determines the winner if one team has an advantage over the other team (or other two teams); if a tie still exists, then,
- Of the tied teams, the team with the fewest overall runs allowed per game in the First Half will be declared the winner; if a tie still exists, then,
- Of the tied teams, the team with the best overall run differential per game in the First Half will be declared the winner; if a tie still exists, then,
- The teams will compare game-by-game results, tracking backwards from the final game of the First Half of the season toward the start of the season, provided that such additional game was not between the two or more tied Clubs. Of the tied Clubs, the first team that has won a game while the other(s) has lost, shall be declared the winner. The comparison will continue to go backwards one game at a time until the tie has been broken.
Second Half Tie:
If two or more teams finish the Second Half tied for a playoff-qualifying position, the following tiebreaker process will take place:
- The head-to-head (or head-to-head-to-head) Second Half record determines the winner if one team has an advantage over the other team (or other two teams); if a tie still exists, then,
- Of the tied teams, the team with the fewest overall runs allowed per game in the Second Half will be declared the winner; if a tie still exists, then,
- Of the tied teams, the team with the best overall run differential per game in the Second Half will be declared the winner; if a tie still exists, then,
- The teams will compare game-by-game results, tracking backwards from the final game of the Second Half of the season toward the start of the season, provided that such additional game was not between the two or more tied Clubs. Of the tied Clubs, the first team that has won a game while the other(s) has lost, shall be declared the winner. The comparison will continue to go backwards one game at a time until the tie has been broken.
Wild Card Teams
In the event that one Club finishes in a playoff-qualifying position in the First Half and Second Half, one Wild Card team will be needed for the Fourth Seed of the Playoffs. In the event that the same two Clubs finish in both playoff-qualifying positions in the First Half and Second Half, two Wild Card teams will be needed for the Third Seed and Fourth Seed of the Playoffs. To determine the Wild Card team(s), the best overall Full Season record will be used.
If two or more teams finish the Full Season tied for a Wild Card-qualifying position, the following tiebreaker process will take place:
- The head-to-head (or head-to-head-to-head) Full Season record determines the winner if one team has an advantage over the other team (or other two teams); if a tie still exists, then,
- Of the tied teams, the team with the fewest overall runs allowed per game in the Full Season will be declared the winner; if a tie still exists, then,
- Of the tied teams, the team with the best overall run differential per game in the Full Season will be declared the winner; if a tie still exists, then,
- The teams will compare game-by-game results, tracking backwards from the final game of the Full Season of the season toward the start of the season, provided that such additional game was not between the two or more tied Clubs. Of the tied Clubs, the first team that has won a game while the other(s) has lost, shall be declared the winner. The comparison will continue to go backwards one game at a time until the tie has been broken.
