CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP: GAME 2

The Yolo High Wheelers faced off against the Glacier Range Riders at Glacier Bank Park on Wednesday for game two of the best-of-five game Championship series. The High Wheelers took the game, winning 2-1, and tying the series at one game apiece before heading back to California to finish out the remainder of the series.

The Range Riders got on the board early when third baseman Christian Kirtley lined out to centerfield with one out, scoring leadoff hitter Gabe Howell. That however would be the only run scored by the Range Riders in this game.

Yolo's starting pitcher Brandon Mitchell would pitch five innings, allowing just the one run on five hits and one walk. Manager Billy Horton utilized four different relief pitchers in the game who only allowed one walk and one hit between them over the four innings they pitched.

Yolo went on to tie the game in the top of the fourth when designated hitter Braedon Blackford hit a single to center field, scoring Jose Gonzalez. That would be the only run allowed by Glacier's starting pitcher Patrick Wicklander. In total he went six innings allowing just the one run on six hits and one walk.

With the score at 1-1 in the top of the eighth, the High Wheelers took the lead with a single down the left field line by second baseman Bobby Lada, scoring Braylin Skinner and landing the final blow with the score now 2-1. Yolo's closer Ty Buckner would come on in the ninth and record his twelfth save of the year.

 

The Range Riders and High Wheelers will travel to Yolo to resume the five-game series starting on Friday. They will play at Dobbins Stadium in Davis, CA at 3:00pm PDT on Friday, the game can be watched at https://share.flosports.tv/SHbH
