Vibes Spin First Shutout of the Season in Series-Opening Rout

After a rainout delayed the opening game of the South Divisional Round, the Vibes got right down to business. Jake McMurray opened the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, scoring Ethan Lopez. Ogden loaded the bases in the top of the second inning, but Matt Hogan made a highlight-reel catch to snare Josh Broughton's line drive, keeping the Raptors off the board. In the bottom half of the inning, the Vibes loaded the bases and McMurray delivered again, singling home two runs, and a third run scored on the play thanks to an error. The score stayed the same until the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Vibes capitalized on some Ogden mistakes to score six runs in the frame with a hit batsman, an error, a wild pitch, and RBi singles by Dusty Stroup and Austin Elder. Jacob Barfield added an extra run in the bottom of the seventh to extend the lead to 11.

On the mound, Nico Zeglin was as strong as he was in the regular season, allowing just three hits and three walks with eight strikeouts over seven shutout innings. Blaine Traxel tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to finish off the Vibes' first shutout of the year. The series now heads to Ogden where the Vibes need just one win to advance to the Championship Round. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
