PBL Players of the Week (Week of 5-21-24)

 

Pitcher of the Week: Jonathan Pintaro, P, Glacier Range Riders

Returning to Glacier for his second year in the Pioneer League, Pintaro made an impressive season debut, pitching seven shutout innings in the Range Riders’ narrow 3-2 loss to the Oakland Ballers. He recorded 10 strikeouts, the highest in the league during the first week of 2024. Pintaro's stellar performance included a 0.71 WHIP, allowing just five baserunners (four hits and one walk) over seven innings.

 

  

 

 Batter of the Week: Dave Matthews , OF, Orem Owlz

Also making his return for a second year with the Northern Colorado Owlz, Matthews made a spectacular start to the season. In the Opening Day 14-9 victory over the defending champion Ogden Raptors, he went 4-for-4, drew two walks, stole two bases, and drove in a run, showcasing his all-around contributions. Matthews continued his hot streak on May 22, going 5-for-6 with three doubles and five RBIs. On May 24, he hit his first two home runs of the season, driving in five runs during NoCo’s 20-1 rout of the Raptors. With a league-leading .667 average, 16 hits, and a .735 OBP in the first week, Matthews led the Owlz to a strong 5-1 start.
