PBL Players of the Week - Week 10

PBL Players of the Week (Week of 7-24-23)

North Division Pitcher of the Week: Alfredo Villa, Missoula

In yet another impressive start for the Missoula pitcher, Alfredo Villa was unstoppable on the mound this week. Villa dominated in his start against the Range Riders on Thursday, pitching seven shutout innings and only allowing three hits and two walks while sitting down a dozen on strikes. Villa has now won four of his last six games and has struck out more than ten batters in two of those wins. The Range Rider offense was shut down entirely and had no responses until late in the game.

North Division Batter of the Week: Jaylyn Williams, IF, Great Falls

The Voyagers have been surging up the leaderboards in the second half of the season, and Jaylyn Williams has been instrumental in the offense. Williams batted .578 on the week with an impressive 11 hits and nine runs batted in over the last six games. Seven of those hits were over the weekend, including a five-RBI performance on Sunday. A solo home run and four extra-base hits, including three straight games with a double, were the highlights of a productive week. The Voyagers hope to continue their momentum going into two mini-series with the PaddleHeads and the Range Riders.

South Division Pitcher of the Week: Justin Kleinsorge, Grand Junction

In one of his best starts this season, Grand Junction’s Justin Kleinsorge put up fantastic numbers for the 4-3 Jackalopes’ victory. After six innings on the bump, Kleinsorge shut out the Vibes with three hits, two walks and six strikeouts. This is his first scoreless start of the 2023 season and sixth win, the most of any Jack this season. Grand Junction now sits in fifth in the overall South standing but are only 2.5 games behind the Vibes, and are third in the second-half standings.

South Division Batter of the Week: Dusty Stroup, IF, Rocky Mountain

A 4-2 series win for the Rocky Mountain Vibes was propelled by this week’s South Batter of the Week Dusty Stroup. Stroup hit .523 with eleven hits, including two extra base hits and two dingers. Stroup was reliable not just to get a hit, but also to bring runs in, batting in ten runs against the Jackalopes. He has recorded a hit in nine of the last ten games and has driven in a run in all those games as well. The Vibes are only a game and a half back in the overall standing behind the Owlz in a tightly contested South Division and lead the second-half division standings.
