Two Ogden Raptors now off to the Chicago White Sox!

As opening day for the 2022 Pioneer Baseball League quickly approaches, most teams are looking to refine their roster and prepare for the long season ahead. The Ogden Raptors will be losing two pitchers, Logan Lyle, and Dylan Burns to the Chicago White Sox. Although neither pitcher made an appearance for the Raptors, they were deemed suitable fits to join their minor league pitching staff. Both players played at the collegiate level for the University of South Florida. In 2021, the USF Bulls won the American Athletic Conference Championship, and just fell short to the University of Texas in the NCAA Super Regionals.

Logan Lyle, a southpaw, is only 24 years old and had his most productive season in 2021, making a team-high 26 relief appearances and pitching to a 1.99 ERA. Throughout all levels of his career, he averages 8.3 strikeouts per 9 innings and was a key asset to the Bulls’ success. He also started in 10 games for the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League in 2021.

Dylan Burns is a 25-year-old right-handed pitcher who, like Logan, spent a lot of time in the bullpen. In his last season with USF, he started 10 games and struck out 84 batters in only 77 innings. Most recently, Dylan pitched for the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association, however only amassed 29 innings in 6 starts.

After both growing up in Florida, going on to pitch for USF, then to Ogden, and now to the same Major League organization, Logan and Dylan have basically been at the exact same spot throughout each of their baseball careers. Now, both players will have the opportunity to pitch for the White Sox in the minor leagues.
