Jackson Sigman Signs with Mariners

By: Mathias Altman-Kurosaki, Syracuse University Graduate Student '22

Former PBL pitcher Jackson Sigman has signed a minor-league contract with the Seattle Mariners. The 26-year-old righty was sent to the Double-A Arkansas Travelers.

This is Sigman’s third time in a major-league organization. After going undrafted out of West Virginia University in 2017, he was signed as a free agent by the Kansas City Royals, making five appearances for their Rookie Ball team. He spent 2018 and part of 2019 playing in the Frontier League and American Association, and after pitching well for the Rocket City Rascals, he signed a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers in June of 2019. That year, Sigman made 23 appearances for the Rocky Mountain Vibes, racking up two saves.

After spending 2020 in the American Association, Sigman signed with the Missoula Paddleheads ahead of the 2021 season. In July, he spent a month in Missoula before signing with the Ogden Raptors. Sigman finished the year strong in Ogden, pitching to a 2.30 ERA with 36 strikeouts and allowing just two homers in 27.1 innings.

Sigman is a Hyde Park High School graduate in Austin, TX, and played three seasons at West Virginia before turning to pro ball. He has worked exclusively as a reliever ever since his time in Morgantown.
