Pitching Rules in Close Loss For Voyagers

(Great Falls, Mt. ) The Great Falls Voyagers (6-15) were looking to get their second win in a row after winning game one of a three-game series versus the Billings Mustangs ( 9-14). The Voyagers gave it a good shot, but the pitching by the Mustangs was too strong in the end as the Voyagers came up on the short end of the stick in a 7-3 loss.
Starting pitcher for the Voyagers, Nikelle Galatas, pitched well in the first two innings, keeping the Mustangs off the board. In the third inning, the Mustangs were able to get a couple of runners on then Galatas was hit by a hard hit ball in the left hip area. After being seen by the trainer, Galatas felt he could continue to pitch. Galatas attempted to pitch to a couple of batters and gave up 4 runs, and came out due to the injury.
The Voyagers were able to get two runs in the 3rd, with help of three errors by the Mustangs. With two out in the inning, Collin Runge was able to make it on base on an error by the third baseman and advanced on an error by the pitcher to second. A double to center by Ryan McCarthy scored Runge from second. McCarthy then came home on a single to right field by Jaylyn Williams. The Voyagers were kept off the scoreboard until the 7th inning, while the Mustangs added one in the 4th, one in the 5th, and one in the 8th inning.
The 7th inning for the Voyagers saw Riley Jepson start the inning off with a single to left. Jepson moved to third on a single to center by Runge and scored on a ground out by McCarthy. Unfortunately, that was the end of the scoring by the Voyagers as they lost this one 7-3 to the Mustangs. The final game of this 3-game series will be Sunday morning, with the first pitch at 11:30 a.m. Come out to the ballpark and treat dad on Father's Day to some Brunch and Baseball!!
