Chung Leads PaddleHeads Attack in Blowout Win

Chung Leads PaddleHeads Attack in Blowout Win

Great Falls, MT - For the second consecutive night, the Great Falls Voyagers offense would find success in the 1st inning in game 2 Wednesday night opposite the Missoula PaddleHeads. 4 singles told the story as the Voyagers jumped out to an early 3-1 lead. This sequence allowed momentum to build for Great Falls after winning on a walk off the night prior. Things would sway back in Missoula's favor soon after however thanks to one swing of the bat.

After Cameron Thompson led off the top of the 2nd with a  single, Jayson Newman approached the dish in a 2 run game. The reigning league MVP would deliver in the situation, launching a monster home run over the wall in left center to tie the game at 3. That would only be the beginning as Jake Guenther, and Keaton Greenwalt would knock in runs with a single, and double respectively to highlight a 4-run rally. The PaddleHeads would never let the lead slip again as the offense would score in 4 consecutive innings down the stretch in a dominant 15-5 victory. Patrick Chung would also have a special night at the plate to pace the attack from the top of the order.

4 consecutive singles for the Voyagers got Great Falls out of the gates in the 1st as the Voyagers would grab an early 3-1 lead. Singles from Ryan McCarthy, and Collin Runge would do the bulk of the damage. Runge would also homer in the 7th to cap off a 3-for-4 effort on the night. The solo home run from Runge would be the only run scored by Great Falls outside of the 1st inning however as starter Izzy Fuentes settled in for Missoula.

The 3rd year professional earned his second win in as many starts in 6 ⅓ innings of work. The California native would not allow a single run after the 1st striking out 4 to earn the win. Mitch Sparks, and John LaRossa would also keep things in check over the final 2 ⅔ striking out 4 combined in those innings.

After tacking on runs in the 6th, and 7th the PaddleHeads would put the game out of reach behind a 5-run rally in the 8th. After hitting a solo home run the inning prior Chung would double home a pair to bring Missoula's advantage to 11-3. Cameron Thompson would also deliver a run-scoring double add on in the frame. Chung finished the night 3-for-5 and Thompson was 4-for-5.

Each player in the starting lineup for Missoula would reach base in the contest at least once. Thompson, and Jared Akins would both reach base 5 times in the contest. Akins finished his night with 3 singles, 2 walks, and a pair of RBIs to highlight his 3-for-3 night at the dish. Missoula would also tally 16 hits in total in the win.

The PaddleHeads (9-5) will now look for a series win on the road in the rubber match of a 3 game series against the Voyagers (5-7). First pitch from Centene Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m. Hear every moment on ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M.
