Voyager Comeback Falls Short

(Great Falls, Mt. ) The Boise Hawks (41-41/13-21) knew they needed a win on Friday night. The hometown Great Falls Voyagers (31-50/17-18) knew they needed a win on Friday night. One of these teams would go home happy, and the other not. Well, the Voyagers tried to come back but failed in their bid to lose 10-8.
The Hawks got on the board first against starting pitcher Brady Held, scoring two in the first and 3 in the second inning. They held the Voyagers without any runs through the first two innings to take an early 5-0 lead. However, the Voyager's pitching settled down as Held went 5.2 innings, giving up just seven runs, with five being earned on 11 hits.
The Voyager bats came to life in the second inning as Eddie Mccabe brought Colling Runge home after his single. The Voyagers got three more in the 4th inning as Jaylen Williams, Anothony Herron Jr., and McCabe came home, making it a 5-4 score for the Hawks.
In the 5th inning, both teams reached home plate, but the Voyagers did it twice to the Hawks once. Riley Jepson got brought home, as well as Herron Jr., on a double by McCabe. Tying the score up in the 5th inning, the Voyagers looked to do more damage but could only scratch up one run in the next three innings while the Hawks plated 4. The Voyagers got their lone run in the 8th inning on a 425' home run to left by Charley Hesse.
All the Voyagers were able to put together one run in the bottom of the 9th was leadoff hitter Williams hit one to deep left. The Voyagers couldn't capitalize on this, however, as they got the loss 10-8. The Missoula Paddleheads had lost tonight, giving the Voyager a great chance to draw closer in the standings in the 2nd half, but to no avail. The Voyagers will look to do it again on Saturday night as they face off with the Hawks in Game 5 of this six-game home stand at 7 p.m. See you at the stadium!!
