6-Run Rally in 6th Leads Missoula Past Ogden

6-Run Rally in 6th Leads Missoula Past Ogden

Missoula, MT- Action would remain tight through the first 5 innings in game 2 of a 6 game set featuring the Missoula PaddleHeads, and Ogden Raptors. Both teams would hold an advantage in those frames but by no more than 1 run. Both offenses would also struggle to scratch runs across as the game would be tied at 3 at the end of the 5th. The PaddleHeads offense would drastically change things in the sixth however, pulling away with a big rally in the frame.

Missoula would see 10 batters come to the dish in the bottom of the sixth inning. The first 7 batters that came to the plate in the inning also all reached base. When it was all said and done, the PaddleHeads had put 6 runs on the board in the frame to jump out to a 9-3 advantage. That would prove to be too much for the Raptors to overcome as Missoula would hold off Ogden down the stretch in a 9-6 win.

Jared Akins would quickly give the PaddleHeads the lead with a single as part of the six run rally. Nick Cici would immediately follow with a big blow in the frame hitting a 3-run blast to left field to give the PaddleHeads a 4-run advantage. McClain O'Conner would also strike with an RBI single in the inning as Missoula would stretch a lead it would not give up the rest of the way. Cici would finish the action 2-for-4 with a home run, and a double. Akins would chip in with a 1-for-4 effort, while O'Conner was 1-for-3.

Ogden found early success offensively from the longball to take the lead early. Dakota Conners would give the Raptors an early 1-0 lead with a solo shot to left in the first. Brandon Bohning would also launch one down the line in left to even the score at 2 apiece in the third inning. However, Ogden did not manage to find much else offensively opposite Austen Seidel

The Texas native would earn his third win in as many starts Wednesday pitching 6 innings allowing 3 runs to move his record to 3-0. Seidel has pitched into the 6th in each outing he's had so fast this season.

Brian Dansereau tried to get the Raptors back into the game with his production in the late innings. Doubles in the seventh, and ninth innings would drive home 3 runs cutting Missoula's lead to 4. The Raptors would be unable to put more at-bats together however as the PaddleHeads would hold off the comeback attempt. Dansereau had a solid night in the losing effort finishing 3-for-4 with 3 doubles and 3 RBIs.

The PaddleHeads (37-12) will look to make it 3 wins in as many nights in game 3 of the series against the Raptors (29-21) on Thursday night. First pitch from Allegiance Field at Ogren Park is set for 7 p.m. Hear the call on ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M.
