Mustangs Fall 13-2

A steady pour of runs for the Range Riders gives them the series sweep over the Mustangs as they beat Billings 13-2. 

 

The Range Riders took the lead on a two-run home run by Jackson Raper in the top of the first off right-hander Jalen Evans

 

Mustangs got a run back in the bottom of the inning on an infield single by Luke Fennelly, with a throwing error that allowed Connor Denning to score to make it a 2-1 game. 

 

Range Riders picked up another run in the second on an RBI double by Ben McConnell to give Glacier a 3-1 lead. 

 

For the second time in as many games, Connor Denning led off the bottom of the third with a homer. It's his ninth home run of the season - a team high. 

 

The 3-2 score is as close as the Mustangs would get, as the Range Riders got t Jalen Evans in the fifth, picking up three runs on a two-RBI double by Ben Fitzgerald and an RBI double by Sam Linscott. 

 

Evans finished his day going five innings giving up six runs all earned on seven hits, five walks with two hit batters. He receives the loss.

 

Jonathan Clark recorded three strikeouts over five innings giving up just two runs, one earned, on seven hits and four walks. The Mustangs left the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the third inning. 

 

Glacier scored three more in the sixth, one in the seventh, and three in the third on a three run home run by Gabe Howell - his third home run in as many ball games. 

 

Mustangs will have to take five of six against the Boise Hawks on the road trip if they want to finish the first half of the season at .500.
