Miller Homers in Return, but Riders Come Up Short

Flathead Valley, MT. – The Glacier Range Riders (31-46, 14-16 second half) got out to a nice lead on Sunday afternoon, but the Boise Hawks (24-54, 7-23 second half) scraped away in the late innings and found a comeback to win 9-6 over Glacier. Dean Miller made his much-anticipated return to the lineup from the IL and homered in his first at-bat of the game to the tun of a 443-foot blast over the left field wall.

Boise brought across the first run of the game in the top of the second, but it was Miller that responded in force, thrashing that ball 109 MPH over the fence to tie the game at one. The Riders took the lead in the next inning when this time, it was Brandt Broussard who found paydirt in a big way with his second home run of the season, hammering a three-run shot over the fence to make it 4-1.

In the fifth inning, the Hawks sparked a rally grabbing three runs in the inning to start a roll of eight unanswered tallies. In the bottom of the eighth, Glacier got two back on an RBI double from Ben McConnell and an RBI groundout off the bat of Austin Bates. After Justin Coleman pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, the Riders couldn't grab any offense and went down in order to finish the game.

The Range Riders have Monday off before taking to the road for three weekday games in Great Falls. They'll be back home this weekend three games against the Voyagers, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
