It was a tough slide last night for the boys in red and green in game three versus Glacier, as the Range Riders pulled away decisively in the final four innings of the game.
Nate Madej got the start for Great Falls, and he put together another solid outing. Madej went 5.1 innings, only surrendering 2 earned runs on 3 hits and 4 walks. He was pulled right before his pitch count went to triple digits. It's still early in the season, but Madej is making his case for getting a promotion. He leads his team in ERA amongst pitchers who've thrown at least 5 innings. He also leads the team in total innings pitched. Madej faced off against Glacier's Nick Zegna, who went 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 earned runs, putting up another respectable performance.
The Range Riders began pulling away in the 7th when they put up five runs, batting around the order to make it a 9-3 game. Glacier then put up 9 more runs in the top of the 9th, as well as two home runs, coming from Mason Dinesen and Ajay Sczepkowski. Zegna is credited with the victory, his second of the year, Shandon Herrera gets the loss.
The Voyagers play again tonight as they travel back to Missoula for a three-game set. Newcomer Nick Marshall gets the start for Great Falls.
