The Voyagers and Paddleheads faced off last night in Missoula for the second game of a 3-game series between the two squads. It was a lower scoring game for the majority of the contest, starting pitchers Jonathan Clark (Missoula) and Kenny Carillo (Voyagers) both were able to keep the hits and runs to a minimum, in what was a pitchers duel between the two for the first six innings.

Shortstop Jack Lynch kept his hotstreak going when he hit a two-run home run to left-center field in the top of the 1st inning. He has now hit the long ball in back-to-back games, settling into that cleanup spot well.

Missoula would score their first and only run on Kenny Carillo in the 4th inning, courtesy of an RBI triple from Collin Runge. In total, Carillo went 6 innings, only giving up the one earned run on three hits and three walks, with four strikeouts. Carillo has had a great month of June on the mound, only giving up two earned runs in his last two starts.

The score was locked at 3-1 Voyagers for the next few innings, until the bottom of the 8th, when the mighty Missoula offense came alive, putting up 6 runs in the inning, trying to play spoiler to Kenny and the Voyagers. Collin Runge hit a 3-run home run into left field in the bottom of the 8th to put his team up 4-3. Suddenly, the Voyagers were down to their final three outs, and it looked like they may fall to Missoula again.

The Voyagers bats answered the wake up call, and got the job done. The bats put up six runs in the top of the 9th inning to take back a decisive lead. The Voyagers loaded the bases via a Mahki Backstrom double and a couple walks, and took it from there. RBI base hits for Hernan Yanez and Freddy Rojas Jr. The Voyagers batted around the order, Mahki Backstrom even had two base hits in the same inning!

After the 9th inning rally, the Voyagers were up 9-4 heading into the bottom of the 9th. The Paddleheads tried to mount a comeback, but were unable to. Final score was 9-5, Reinoso strikes out 2 in the bottom 9 to close out the game. The Voyagers and Paddleheads wrap up their series today at 2:05 in Missoula, James Deloatch is the anticipated starter.
