Vibes Extend Division Lead With Win Over Raptors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The offense was clicking for the second straight game for the Rocky Mountain Vibes with a big 18-15 win over the Ogden Raptors on Tuesday. Rocky Mountain now widens its lead at the top spot of the Pioneer League Southern Division.

The Vibes have scored 18 runs in back to back games, but this one didn't start as a high scoring affair, at least for the Raptors side of things.

Vibes starter Zach Ottinger put on a solid performance holding Ogden's offense at bay. Ottinger would finish with a line of 6.0 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 K.

On the offensive side, multiple Vibes turned in solid nights. Jake McMurray would go 4-5 with three RBIs, missing his first professional home run by just a few feet. Ethan Lopez went 3-4 with an RBI, and Dusty Stroup finished 4-4 with three RBIs and a walk. Stroup would go on to earn tonights Whataburger player of the game.

Towards the end of the contest the Raptors would go on a run that cut down the Vibes 10 run lead and brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth. The comeback dragged on for a bit before Angel Tubircio put a stop to it, giving the Vibes the win in the first game of the three game series.

Rocky Mountain now has a 2.0 game lead on the southern division sitting at 9-4. The Vibes and Raptors face off again tomorrow at 6:35 p.m.
