Hamby Haunts Great Falls, Riders Roll Over Voyagers

Flathead Valley, MT. – The Glacier Range Riders (37-53, 20-23 second half) jaunted to their fifth shutout win in franchise history Tuesday evening with a convincing 10-0 win over the Great Falls Voyagers (45-45, 18-25 second half). Rob Hamby turned in another stellar start on the mound, while the offense batted around and score four runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.

It was Brody Wofford that broke through first with a slapped ball down the right field line that allowed Brandt Broussard to curl all the way home from first and score the opening run. Ben McConnell came up with a clutch hit two batters later with a single into center field that scored Wofford and Dean Miller and made it 3-0. Finally, McConnell was brought home when Ryan Cole bounced a slow roller to third and legged out an infield single.

The scoring wasn't done there. Miller continued his hot streak with a two-run single with the bases loaded in the fourth. One inning later, the Ryans (Cash and Cole) each brought home a run on a base knock. Brody Wofford led off the sixth inning with his 20th home run of the year, becoming the first player in franchise history to eclipse the 20-homer mark. The scoring was rounded out by birthday boy Noah Marcelo celebrating his 22nd with a base hit and a run scored on a wild pitch.

Rob Hamby locked down the Voyager bats from the starting gun. Other than a handful of walks, he was nearly untouchable, mowing through 5.1 innings of no-hit baseball before Great Falls DH broke through on him in the sixth. The defense behind him was impeccable with numerous web gems including Miller climbing the ladder to rob a line drive, Broussard going headfirst into the outfield wall to rob a hit, and Mason Dinesen launching himself to grab a line drive then flipping the ball to second while falling down for a double play. Trenton Toplikar pitched the seventh and the eighth scoreless, while Justin Coleman struck out the side in the ninth to send the fans home happy.

The Range Riders and Voyagers meet again tomorrow night for the FINAL home game of Glacier's season at 7:05 PM. Tickets can be bought at https://ridgerunbaseball.ticketsocket.com/#/event-list or in-person at the Flathead Field box office starting at 5:30 PM.
