Herron Jr. Drives in Five as Voyagers Dominate Both Sides of the Ball

Voyagers Win Big In Game 3

(Great Falls, Mt.) The Great Falls Voyagers (31-49/17-17) came into the game on Wednesday night versus the Boise Hawks ( 40-41/12-21) needing a win to try and keep their hopes of winning the 2nd half of the season alive. They did just that as they defeated the Hawks by a final score of 10-3.
The Voyagers got off to an early start as Andy Atwood hit a double to right center in the 1st inning and was brought home by Riley Jepson's double to left field. The Voyagers continued by adding another run in the 2nd inning as lead-off hitter Anthony Herron Jr. knocked one just over the left field wall for a single shot.
Leading 2-0 after two innings, the Voyager batters continued their onslaught with another run in the 3rd inning as Xane Washing hit a double to right and came home on a single to left by Jaylen Williams. The Hawks scored a run in the 4th, but starting pitcher Casey Minchey kept the Hawks in check through 6 innings, only giving up one run and five hits.
The Voyager bats put the game almost out of reach with three runs in the 5th inning as Washington laid down an opening bunt, and Atwood and Jepson drew a walk. Williams hit a single to right with the bases loaded, scoring Washington, but Atwood was thrown out at the plate. Colling Runge drew a walk, and Anthony Herron Jr. scored another run with a single to left. On a ground out, the 3rd run came home as Eddie McCabe hit it to second.
Leading 6-1 after five, the Voyagers put the game out of reach in the 7th inning, scoring four more runs. Riley had a single to left, followed by a single to center by Williams. Runge loaded the bases with a hard single to left, and Herron Jr. cleared them all with a double to left field. Herron Jr. eventually came home on a wild pitch for the 10th run by the Voyagers.
Andy Atwood pitched the 8th and 9th innings to give up two meaningless runs in the 9th as the Voyagers came away with the 10-3 win in game 3 of this six-game series. The Voyagers will take on the Boise Hawks 3 more times before hitting the road. So come on out and catch the Voyagers this weekend and cheer them on as they try to capture the 2nd half of the season title to get to the playoffs!!
