Voyagers Take Series over Chukars; Look for Sweep in Game 3

Voyagers Win Over Chukars
(Great Falls, Mt.) The Great Falls Voyagers (12-24) opened up their second game versus the visiting Idaho Falls Chukars (13-25) a little shakey as they allowed four runs in the first inning. The Voyagers settled down after that, though, as they came back to get the win 10-5 over the Chukars.
The Voyagers answered the Chukars 4 runs with two of their own in the bottom of the first inning as Eddie McCabe got a single to left with two out. Derek Kolbush matched this with a single to right, and Jaylyn Williams did them one better as he hit a double to right field, scoring them both.
The second inning saw the Voyagers put two more up on the board as Billy Hancock started the inning with a single to right. Anthony Herron Jr. had a single to right field to put runners in scoring position for Charley Hesse. Hesse took advantage of it as he hit a double off the left field wall scoring Hancock. Dilan Espinal hit a sac fly to left field to score Herron Jr. tying the score up after two at 4-4.
The Voyagers took a slim lead on a single to center by Hancock with two out and was pushed home by Herron Jr's. double to right field. Holding a 5-4 lead going into the fifth inning, the Chukars were able to tie the score at 5, and the Voyagers, in the bottom of the 6th, decided to put this one away.
The sixth inning saw all nine batters come to the plate for the Great Falls squad as Hesse reached with a single with one out. With two out, the hit parade started as Xane Washington had a single, Riley Jepson walked, and McCabe hit a single to score two runs. Kolbush then hit a double to deep center to score two as well. Jaylyn Williams finished off the scoring as a double plated the last run in the inning for the Voyagers, giving them a 10-5 lead.
The Voyagers would maintain this lead to the end of the game as relief pitchers Ethan Swanson and Andrew Garcia kept the Chukars off the board to secure the win for the Voyagers. The Voyagers will look to get the sweep in the 3-game series as they meet the Chukars once more on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
