Paddleheads Fight Back in Game Three

The Great Falls Voyagers dropped game three last night against the Missoula Paddleheads inside Voyagers Stadium. The Paddleheads win their first game against the Voyagers in seven tries.

A lefty duel was slated to go down last night between two pitchers who have been on a roll as of late. Nate Madej was the starting pitcher for the Voyagers against Missoula's Dawson Day, who was making his 3rd start since being moved out of the bullpen. Day has given our squad issues in the last two series we've seen him. In the two previous series', Dawson threw 8.2 scoreless innings.

It was an incredibly loud first inning to start the game. The Missoula Paddleheads went right back to work, hanging up a large number in the first inning for the second game in a row. Nate Madej struggled in his start for the V's, and the Paddleheads electric offense was able to put up seven runs in the first, running Madej out of the game with just two outs in the top of the first. Steve Washilewski came in to relieve Madej and finished out the inning. RBI knocks from Fogel and Willman in the frame.

Great Falls capitalized on their first chance to respond. Ryan Major reached on a single when Hylan Hall sent his 8th home run of the season out to left center. The ball left the bat right under 100 MPH and traveled 413 feet, making the score 7-2 after the first inning.

The Paddleheads kept adding to their lead throughout the game, something that they've become accustomed to all season. They are not a team you can afford to get down against early, and they proved that fact last night. They added two more runs in the second inning, and three more throughout the rest of the game. Roberto Pena opened up the top of the 7th inning with a long home run to far left field, giving his team an 8-run lead.

Reliever Steve Washilewski had another solid performance in the emergency relief appearance for the Voyagers, he goes 5.1 innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts to boot. But the Voyagers offense is unable to fight back in this one, final score of the game was 13-2.
