Big Z Forces Raptors Bats to Go Extinct in Glacier Fourth of July Win

FLATHEAD VALLEY, MT. – Nick Zegna had his second quality start in a row Wednesday when he locked down one of the hottest offenses in the league enroute to a 2-1 Glacier Range Riders (22-14) win. Zegna and the bullpen held the Ogden Raptors (23-14) to just eight hits and one run while striking out six, to clinch a series win in their first ever matchup with the south division leaders.

Glacier got on the scoresheet first thanks to a one out RBI single from Kingston Liniak that allowed Matt Clayton to speed home from second and make it 1-0. In the top of the third, Ogden answered with a two-out single to score one. The final scoring play came in the fifth when Jackson Raper smashed a solo homer over to left center field and made it 2-1.

The pitching staff then locked it down. Zegna fired his final inning three up, three down. Noah Barros allowed a scoreless frame with a strikeout to end it, while John Natoli came on in the eighth and did the same. Roy Robles logged in for the top of ninth and retired the Raptors in order with two strikeouts lock down his second save of the year.

With the Range Riders and Raptors meeting just three times this season, the Riders have officially clinched the season and the all-time series with these two wins and they will go for the sweep tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM from Glacier Bank Park.
