Rain Forces 10-5 Mustang Win

In six innings, the Mustangs defeat the Voyagers 10-5 to even up the six-game Jefferson Lines Road Trip two games a piece.

Lightning delayed the game at the end of the sixth, and heavy rain forced the end of the ball game with the Mustangs leading 10-5.

The Mustangs jumped ahead to a 2-0 lead in the third, as Connor Denning hit an RBI single, while Alejandrp Figueredo grounded out to second to score Lomack to make it 2-0.

The Voyagers answered in the third on back to back one-out doubles. Riley Jepson started it, with Jaylen Williams hitting him home.

The Mustangs hung a crooked number on the Voyagers in the fourth. Led off by John Michael Faile's single, Mitch Moralez walked to bring up Brendan Ryan, who already collected his first professional hit his previous at bat. Ryan lined a ball into left field to score Faile to make it 3-1. Mikey Edie extended his hitting streak to four games with an RBI single to score Moralez and make it 4-1. Taylor Lomack extended his hitting streak to seven games to score Ryan to make it 5-1. Denning capped off the nine batter inning with a two-RBI double to score Edie and the Mustangs led 7-1.

The Voyagers didn't go away quietly. A solo home run by Colin Runge led off the home half of the fourth, while a two-RBI double by Christian Coipel brought the Voyagers within three by a score of 7-4.

The Mustangs added on in the sixth. Lomack led off the inning with a triple, while Connor Denning singled him home. Alejandro Figueredo doubled Denning to third, and John Michael Faile sacrificed Denning home. With two outs, Mitch Moralez hit an RBI single to score Figueredo and the Mustangs led 10-4.

The Voyagers picked up a run on three walks in the sixth, but that would be as much time as either team received with a final score of 10-5.

Luke Trueman receives the win as he tosses five innings giving up four runs, all earned, on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
