Owlz Outlast Ponies 9-6

Owlz Outlast Ponies 9-6

Five errors plagued both teams as the Mustangs fall to the Northern Colorado Owlz 9-6.

The Mustangs took advantage of three errors in two plays on the Owlz in the first as both Connor Denning and Taylor Lomack scored on errors by Peyton Robertson and Kevin Jimenez to lead 2-0 after one.

Cameron Repetti tossed four strong innings, but an error on Denning at second base brought Jimenez to the dish who homered to put the Owlz ahead 3-2 with a lead they would not relinquish.

Repetti tossed those four innings without an earned run on four hits with two punchouts, a walk and a hit batter.

Danny Perez punched a ball over the right field wall in the fifth to make it 4-2 Owlz off of Trevor Jackson, who gave up four runs, but only one earned on two hits and two walks with four punchouts. An error at third base by Mitch Moralez plagued Jackson in the sixth as that allowed a run to score, then Peyton Robertson took second and allowed Euro Diaz to steal home to make it 6-2.

In the seventh, Abdel Guadalupe reached on an error by Blake Evans which allowed Estavan De La O to score and make it 7-2.

Brady West hit a two-run homer in the eighth to pull the Mustangs within three by a score of 7-4.

An RBI single by Jackson Coutts and Guadalupe put the game out of reach of the Mustangs to make it 9-4. Gabe Wurtz made it interesting with a two-run home run over the left field wall to make it 9-6.

Despite dropping the season finale, the Mustangs have taken three series wins in a row and hope to continue that streak in Great Falls for a three-game home and home set over the next six games.
