Riders Lose in KO Round

Flathead Valley, MT. – The Glacier Range Riders (33-47, 16-17 second half) came up short Friday night after the game was tied 3-3 with the Great Falls Voyagers (42-38, 15-18 second half) at the conclusion of nine innings. Voyager Collin Runge defeated Livingston Morris 5-4 in the knockout round.

 

The scoring for the Range Riders starting in the third when Eddie McCabe drove home Dean Miller on a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0. The other big offensive play for the Range Riders came in sixth, when Mason Dinesen came up clutch to pound a deep shot off the 406 sign in center field and drive home Ben McConnell and Drew Sims. Rob Hamby had another stellar start for the Riders throwing six innings, allowing four hits, no runs, and striking out three. Isaiah Henry and Trenton Toplikar each pitched scoreless innings of relief.

 

The Voyagers found a way back in it in the ninth when Breydon Daniel tripled with the bases loaded to bring in three runs and tie the game. The Range Riders came up empty in the bottom of the ninth, sending it to a PBL knockout round.

 

In the PBL knockout round, the batters are given five "outs" (a home run not counting as an out) or two minutes to hit as many home runs as possible. Great Falls sent up Runge who hit five home runs before getting his fifth out, while Morris could only get four longballs before recording his fifth out.
