Voyagers win series-opener against Glacier
It was a great night in Great Falls, as the players returned from an away trip for game one of a three-game series between the Range Riders and the Great Falls Voyagers, and fans were packed in for Koozie Giveaway Night presented by Ferrin's Furniture.
The Voyagers are coming off a really tough series at Missoula, and the boys needed a big morale boost to get the locker room buzzing again. They certainly were able to get that boost Tuesday Night when they picked up an 11-10 victory against Glacier.
Newcomer AJ Fritz got the start for the Voyagers, and he had a respectable first outing. He went 4.2 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on 7 hits and he had 3 strikeouts. Fritz pounded the strike zone and trusted his fielders, which worked for him today.
The teams traded the lead back and forth throughout the first half of the game. 3-run innings in the 5th and 6th for Glacier gave them a decisive late-game lead. It was beginning to look bleak, down 4 in the 8th, when the Voyagers put together one of the best runs of their season, scoring 6 runs in the 8th inning. The team batted around the order and saw RBI's for Livingston Morris, Jack Lynch, Mahki Backstrom and newcomer, Kody Putnam. Putnam opened up the scoring in the 8th and set the tone with his second RBI base hit of the day.

Kody made his pro baseball debut today, and he absolutely showed out in what was his first full day in Montana. He got his first professional base hit courtesy of a 2-RBI single in the 4th. When asked after the game, Kody said that the game ball would be going to his dad, someone who has been with him every step of the way. Kody totaled for 4 RBI's on two base hits, and was the player of the game for Great Falls. Nolan LaMere is credited with the victory, who went 2 innings in relief, surrendering one run on one hit. Dayan Reinoso comes in and closes the door in the 9th. It came down to the wire, with a runner on third, Voyagers up one run. Reinoso struck out AJ Sepkowski looking, getting his first career save in the Pioneer League. Final score is 11-10.
