
Déjà vu 8-7 victory for High Wheelers vs. Owlz
The Yolo High Wheelers (9-10) have won two games in this series against the Northern Colorado Owlz (15-7) with each victory 8-7.
High Wheelers first baseman Jose Gonzalez (5) got the scoring started in the first inning with a two-run homer. Following him, third baseman Braedon Blackford singled and designated hitter Braylin Marine delivered an RBI double which made it 3-0 visitors.
In the next inning, Yolo added two more runs on an RBI single by catcher Angel Mendoza, and a triple courtesy of second baseman Kirkland Banks.
However, in the bottom of the fourth, with two out and nobody out, the Owlz struck for four runs to take the lead. Left fielder Henry George had an RBI double, first baseman Jackson Coots tied the game with a two-run double and third baseman Omar Ortiz had a go-ahead RBI single making it 6-5 Northern Colorado.
The High Wheelers came back and took the lead for good in the sixth as Marine had an RBI single tying it at six, and right fielder Justin Kirby a go-ahead sacrifice fly to make it 7-6. In the eighth, center fielder Brayland Skinner provided insurance with an RBI single giving the visitors their eighth run.
The Owlz plated a run in the ninth and had the possible winning run at the plate but Ty Buckner (3) got pinch hitter Dario Gomez on a fly out to right ending the evening.
Jacob Stobart (4-0)--Yolo's second pitcher earned his team-high fourth win going 2 2/3 shutout innings. High Wheelers starter Shaun Gamelin lasted four innings while striking out four. He gave up six runs (all earned). A tip of the cap to Connor Langrell sandwiched between Stobart & Buckner who worked an 1 1/3 of shutout relief.
"Jacob did a great job in relief tonight. He really picked us up when we needed that extra inning," said Yolo manager Billy Horton.
The series is tied 2-2. The fifth game of this set will be Saturday at 5:15 p.m. PST. Left-hander Brandon Mitchell is the scheduled starter for Yolo.

Yolo had 13 hits. It was the second straight game, every High Wheeler in the starting lineup reached base safely. The club has double digits in hits in all four games of this set
