Riders Slam Chukars Behind 15-Run Outburst

Idaho Falls, ID. – The Glacier Range Riders (1-1) have their first win of the second half of the season as they routed the Idaho Falls Chukars (1-1) by a score of 15-8 at Melaleuca Field. The offense absolutely swarmed the Chukar pitching staff, utilizing seven extra base hits, including a home run each by Livingston Morris and Brenton Davis, to coast to the seven-run win the four-hour, ten-minute affair on Wednesday night.

Glacier got on the board first, when Justin Mazzone drew a bases loaded walk in inning number one to get the visitors up 1-0. Idaho Falls answered with a homer in the bottom of the inning, but in the second, the Range Riders would pick up a lead they would never surrender. The inning started off with Brenton Davis sending his first professional home run over the center field fence, before a Sam Linscott RBI single and a Brody Wofford sac fly made it 4-1.

Things started to seem like they were getting comfortable in the fourth when doubles from Linscott and Dean Miller brought in three more total runs and had Glacier up 7-2. The Chukars would not go quietly into the night, though, and they tallied three in the bottom of the inning to cut it back to a two-run game. Another Dean Miller RBI was erased by two home runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Ben McConnell and Linscott each came through with sac flies in the sixth to make it 10-7.

Livingston Morris essentially performed the finisher in the eighth inning, when the Woodstock, Georgia outfielder toppled a three-run homer into left field to make it 13-7. The scoring was topped off in the ninth with Dean Miller adding another double to his impressive day, bringing in two more runs for a clean 15 for Glacier.

Tanner Solomon delivered well in his first career professional start, throwing the first four innings, striking out three, and allowing four earned runs. Bret Barnett picked up the win in relief, firing three innings, and allowing two runs on four hits. Justin Coleman finished the contest for the Range Riders, throwing the final two innings and allowing just one run on one hit and striking out two.

The 23-hit performance was led by Linscott, who had five hits, while Miller and Davis each added four. Linscott scored four runs and Ryan Cash added three, while Miller had a whopping five RBIs to round out the offensive production.

The Range Riders and Chukars play one more time in Idaho Falls, before the series shifts to the Flathead Valley for Friday, Saturday, Sunday contests between the two at Flathead Field. Tickets available at: https://ridgerunbaseball.ticketsocket.com/#/event-list
