Voyagers Lose Game One of 3 Game Series
(Great Falls, Mt.) - The Great Falls Voyagers (26-41/11-10) came into the first game of a three-game series versus the Missoula Paddleheads (50-20/15-7) looking to gain on the Paddleheads in the second half of the season race. However, this was not to be in game one for the Voyagers as they lost 19-6 to their nemesis, Paddleheads.
The game didn't start too well for the Voyagers as they found themselves down 3-0 after one inning and 6-0 after the top of the 3rd. On the mound for the Voyagers, Tyler Naumann pitched well but had multiple errors behind him in the 3rd inning. The Voyagers did get four runs of their own in the bottom of the 3rd inning to claw back into this game.
With one out in the bottom of the 3rd, Charley Hesse got a single to third base on a drag bunt. Xane Washington had a drag bunt for another single, and Riley Jepson drove home Hesse with a single to center. Jaylen Williams reached on a fielder's choice and scored a run, as Ryan Peltier also beat out a single to score a run.
The Voyagers scored once more in the 4th inning as Nick Emanuel led off with a single to right and came home on a throwing error by the second baseman. One more run in the 7th inning by the Voyagers rounded out their scoring as Washington had a single to short and eventually came home on a wild pitch in the inning.
Unfortunately for the Voyagers, they gave up 3 in the 7th and ten runs in the 8th inning for a loss. The Voyagers will look to get back in the win column as they take on the Paddleheads in game 2 of the series Saturday night at 7 p.m.
