Voyagers Even Series With Victory Over Chukars

The Great Falls Voyagers and the Idaho Falls Chukars played game two of their six-game set yesterday inside Melaleuca Field in Idaho. The Voyagers were looking to even up the series after losing game one Tuesday Night.

Danny Galvan got the starting nod for the Voyagers against the Chukar's Caleb Reyes. The Voyagers wasted no time getting into the driver's seat, as they took a two-run lead when Xane Washington stepped in with one away, and homered out to right field. The Voyagers added two more runs to their lead in the bottom of the second with a 2-RBI knock from Mahki Backstrom, who is fresh off the ten-day IL.

After two innings, the Voyagers were up 4-0. Danny Galvan put together another respectable performance as the starter yesterday, going 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

The Chukars began to fight back in the third inning with a solo home run from Bohning. An RBI double in the bottom of the 4th from Jacob Shanks cut the lead for Great Falls to two, and good baserunning at the end of the inning made the score 4-3.

The game went scoreless on both sides for the next four innings. Trae Robertson relieved for 2 scoreless innings, Torrealba also came in for 1.2 innings. The Chukars were down to their final out in the bottom of the 9th when Trevor Rogers hit an RBI single to tie the game up at 4. Then, it was on to the knockout round.

Ryan Holgate stepped into the box first for the second Knockout Round of the Voyager's season. Holgate seemed to be the perfect man for the job. The former MLB Draft pick gave the Chukars a tall task when he hit four home runs out. Idaho Falls sent out Brett Berrera to try to match Holgate, but he was unable to. Voyagers take the victory in the knockout round, final score is 5-4. Nate Madej is the expected starting pitcher for the Great Falls Voyagers.
