
Vibes Secure First Win of Series
Davis, Ca.—-The Rocky Mountain Vibes (1-1) erased a three-run sixth inning deficit by scoring six times and defeated the Yolo High Wheelers (1-1) 10-7 in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday at Dobbins Stadium.
The rally started on a first pitch single by Rocky Mountain second baseman Josh Day who had two hits in the frame. The first six Vibes reached base. After one run was plated, center fielder Brett Carson's two-run single tied it while third baseman Eddie McCabe immediately followed with an RBI reaching on a fielding error by Yolo shortstop Braylin Marine, that gave the Vibes the lead for good. Right fielder Steven Rivas padded the advantage with a two-run single.
Yolo highlights included two RBI's by catcher Mason Minzey (two walks and single), third baseman Josh Leslie was 1-2 with a steal and two runs. First baseman Jose Gonzalez in his first pro game walked twice, singled and scored a run. Center fielder Brayland Skinner had two hits, a walk, and scored twice.
Rocky Mountain's Andrew Vail (1-0) pitched 1/3 of an inning for his first pro win. Bryson Spagnuolo (1) earned the save in his pro debut. The loss was suffered by Yolo's Ben Ferrer (0-1) giving up five runs (all earned) in two-plus innings.
High Wheelers starter—lefty—Brandon Mitchell in his first pro appearance gave up four runs (all earned) in three innings. He struck out two.
Both games in this series have been 10-7 with each team 1-1.
