Voyagers Lose Pitching Duel in Game 3

Voyagers Drop Close Game 3 of Series
(Great Falls, Mt.) The Great Falls Voyagers (26-43/11-12) were looking to right the ship after dropping the first two games of a three-game series at home versus the Missoula Paddleheads (52-20/17-7). The game was a great one to the end as starting pitching and the relievers did their part, but the Paddleheads got the victory in the end, 3-2.
The starting pitcher for the Voyagers, Casey Minchey, pitched a gem of a game as he shut down the Paddlehead team through 5 innings. He finally gave up a solo home run to left by Dondrei Hubbard in the 6th. Then let two runs cross in the top of the 7th before leaving the game after 6.2 innings.
On the other hand, the Voyagers did something they hadn't done for most of the season: take an early lead. The Voyagers put two on the board in the 3rd inning to take an early lead. Gregory Ryan Jr. led off with a walk versus a strong throwing, Alfredo Villa, for the Paddleheads. Ryan Jr. got to second on a single to left by leadoff hitter Xane Washington. Ryan Jr. then came home as the single to left was bobbled by the left fielder for the Paddleheads, and Ryan Jr. scored, moving Washington to second base. A single by Langston Ginder moved Washington to 3rd base, and he came home on a sacrifice fly to center by Riley Jepson for the 2nd run.
However, that was all the Voyagers could muster, as they allowed one run in the 6th and two in the 7th inning, giving the Paddleheads a 3-2 victory in the end. Some great pitching by the relievers, Ethan Swanson and Andrew Garcia kept the Paddleheads off the scoreboard, but the Voyagers could not get past the Paddlehead relievers either.
The Voyagers will take a day off and return on Tuesday night, August 15th, at 7 p.m. to take on the Billings Mustangs for a three-game home series. You have only 12 home games left to catch the Voyagers, so take advantage of your chance for 2023 to see some GREAT baseball action!!
