Voyagers Offense Stymied by Paddleheads Pitching

Pitchers Duel In Final Game of Series

(Great Falls, Mt.) The Great Falls Voyagers (9-22) and the Missoula Paddleheads (25-8) faced off in game three of a three-game series, tied at two. With the first two games being dominated by pitching, why would you expect anything less in game 3? Starting pitchers for both teams didn't disappoint anyone as Voyagers Brett Lorah made his first start of the season, and Paddleheads Connor Shultz put on an excellent pitching display.
The Paddleheads could score one run in the second inning on Lorah on one hit. At the same time, the Voyagers got a hit in the 2nd inning on a single by Riley Jepson to center but were unable to bring him home. Lorah kept the Paddleheads off the board until the top of the 6th inning when he gave up a 2-run home run. Lorah then left the game, giving up only three runs on five hits through 5 innings.
The Paddleheads were able to score one more run in the 6th inning but were shut out by relief pitchers Greg Blackman and Ethan Swanson after that. The Voyagers continued to struggle at the plate, except for Derek Kolbush. Kolbush knocked one over the left field fence in the bottom of the 6th inning to make it a 4-1 score. That, however, was all the Voyagers could muster as they were held to two hits and one run. The Voyagers lost game three by a score of 4-1 and will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Boise to play a 3-game series on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The team will return home to take on the Idaho Falls Chukars on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
Come to the park to watch some great baseball and catch the firework extravaganza on July 4th. See you at the games!!!
