PaddleHeads Quiet Voyagers Bats in 8-4 Victory Over Great Falls

Missoula, MT - The Missoula PaddleHeads came into action Sunday needing a victory after 4 consecutive losses to the Great Falls Voyagers. The offense of the Voyagers would lead the way in the four games averaging 10 runs per game in that stretch. The PaddleHeads pitching staff would turn things around in a big way on Sunday however, keeping the Voyagers in check.

Great Falls would be limited to just 6 hits in Sunday's  contest with only 2 hits coming after the fourth inning Sunday in Missoula's 8-4 victory. The offense for the PaddleHeads would also provide plenty of support throughout the afternoon collecting 12 hits as a team. Cameron Thompson would lead the way for much of the afternoon at the dish, and didn't waste any time setting the tone.

Thompson would give the PaddleHeads the early advantage in the bottom of the first inning hitting a solo blast to left field to make the score 1-0. It would only be the start of a solid day at the plate for Thompson who would go on to finish the contest 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.

Lamar Sparks, and Keaton Greenwalt would pace the offense in the fifth and sixth innings as Missoula would score 5 in those two frames to take control of the game. Greenwalt would get the ball rolling in the fifth with a double down the left field line to score Sparks as part of a three run rally. Sparks would then drive in a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly scoring Henderson Perez. Sparks would finish 3-for-4 with an RBI, and run scored while Greenwalt would finish 2-for-3 with 1 driven in .

Starting pitcher Rafael Monsion had a solid outing Sunday to get Missoula off in the right direction allowing 3 runs over 5 ⅓ innings to earn his first win of the season. Zachary Smith, and John LaRossa would also turn in a solid effort out of the pen as well in an 1 ⅔ combined striking out 7 batters. In one stretch, Smith, and LaRossa would record six outs in a row via the strikeout.

With the win, Missoula (6-6) ends a nine game stretch against Great Falls (9-3) on a high.. After playing in games on 12 consecutive days, the PaddleHeads will now have Monday, and Tuesday of the upcoming week off before resuming action on Wednesday.

The PaddleHeads will then open a three game set at home opposite the Billings Mustangs (7-3). Missoula will have positive memories to draw on from the first three games of the season that saw Missoula come away with a sweep of the Mustangs. Billings has been on a roll since however having won 7 games in a row at the conclusion of play Sunday.
