Vibes Outlast Ogden, Win 12-7

By Tyler Petersen

OGDEN, UTAH – In a critical fourth game of their series in Ogden, the Vibes erased an early deficit and kept the Raptors at bay for the rest of the night in a 12-7 victory.

It was the first Vibes start for Gaylon Viney, who had a relief appearance earlier this week. Ogden jumped out to a lead first – two runs on a Josh Broughton single in the second and a single run on a Logan Williams sac fly in the third.

The Vibes have made a habit of comebacks in this series, although I don't really think this would really count as one. Nonetheless they took the lead away from the Raptors in the fourth. A wild pitch brought in the first of the inning, then three came in at once on a home run by Joe Encarnacion. Add an additional RBI single from Josh Glenn and it ballooned to a five-run inning.

The most important aspect of the night was that the Vibes' offense never relented. Another four runs came in the very next inning off three RBI singles. Roky Mountain then brought in one run in each of the seventh, eighth, and ninth. It was important because Ogden was not going away either. The had a run come in on a wild pitch in the fifth and saw two more come in on a Matt Warkentin home run in the eighth. Warkentin now has three home runs in the series.

While it wasn't a save situation in a 12-7 game, it was time once more for the Miguel Pozo Show © (yes I am trying to get that to catch on). He threw 10 pitches for the "close" and the Vibes tied up the series at two wins apiece.
