"Outstanding Cam" leads Yolo to 3-2 victory
Davis, Ca---Yolo High Wheelers (19-21) right-handed starting pitcher Cameron Repetti (3-1) worked seven innings and struck out nine (both personal highs this year) as he led his club to a 3-2 win over the Rocky Mountain Vibes (19-21) on Tuesday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium. Repetti issued two runs (earned), allowed four hits, and walked one.
Yolo manager Billy Horton said about Repetti, "Cam was outstanding. He gave us seven strong innings and that was huge with eight games this week."
The High Wheelers jumped on the board in the first inning on an infield single by shortstop Braylin Marine. Second baseman Bobby Lada followed with a double to right, moving Marine to third. Up next was first baseman Braedon Blackford and he grounded to first with the pitcher covering, scoring Marine making it 1-0. Yolo added to the lead with a run in the fourth on an RBI double to right for Blackford.
Rocky Mountain tightened things with a solo homer to right in the fifth by second baseman Ernie Yake (1). But Yolo answered in its half; after a one-out double by center fielder Brayland Skinner, Marine singled, and that scored Skinner which made it 3-1.
The Vibes scored a run in the eighth making it 3-2 but left the tying run at third against High Wheelers reliever Jack Zalasky..
Yolo closer Ty Buckner (4) earned his team-high fourth save with a scoreless ninth. Rocky Mountain had the tying run at first but Buckner induced Yake to hit into a game-ending 4-6-3 double play.
Rocky Mountain starter Christian Day (2-4) struck out seven in six innings (personal highs for him in 2024). He gave up three runs (two earned) and didn't issue a walk.
The teams meet at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday for a doubleheader (scheduled seven-inning games). In game one, it'll be right-hander Carlos Lomeli for Rocky Mountain against Yolo left-hander Dawson Lane. The probables for the nightcap are Vibes lefty Kelsey Ward and High Wheelers righty Noah Lewis.
