Riders Utilize 13 Hits to Grind Out Friday Night Victory

Flathead Valley, MT. – The Glacier Range Riders (31-45, 13-15 second half) keep on cooking as they defeated the Boise Hawks (23-54, 6-22 second half) by a score of 6-3 on Friday night at Flathead Field. This win marks the sixth win in the past seven games for the Glacier Range Riders.

Brandt Broussard came across the plate first for the Range Riders, when an Eddie McCabe single pushed him from first to third then an error on the Hawks right fielder allowed Broussard to scamper all the way home. In the third, Ben McConnell cracked a ripped single into center field that scored McCabe and made it 2-0. Finally, an exclamation point was made in the fifth, when Brody Wofford toppled the right field fence on a moonshot homer that made it 4-0. Boise, however, answered in the next half inning with a two-run blast of their own to make it 4-2.

Insurance was needed, and it came in the form of two singles from Glacier outfielders. First, Ryan Cole singled home Will Mangurian in the seventh, his first professional run scored. Then in the eighth, McConnell came up clutch again with another base knock that, this time, brought home Broussard. McConnell finished the day 4-5 with two RBIs, while McCabe also had a 4-5 night, but with two runs scored and two doubles.

Noah Barros had another quality start, throwing six innings full, allowing two earned runs on the homer, and striking out six. Trenton Toplikar faced the minimum in his two innings of work thanks to a strikeout and multiple defensive highlights from shortstop Mason Dinesen. Nathan Thomas threw the final inning, and one unearned run came across him.

With the win, Glacier clinches a split in the series, and they'll go for the win tomorrow night at 7:05 PM. Tickets can be bought at https://ridgerunbaseball.ticketsocket.com/#/event-list or in-person at the Flathead Field box office starting at 5:30 PM.
